DIYHosting utilizes three of HP's finest branded server models. Primarily we use the DL360, with the DL320 G2 and DL380 G3 used as an alternative.

Overview
The ProLiant DL360 Generation 3 leads the scale out environment, combining concentrated, 1U compute power with unmatched system features such as embedded remote management and optional redundant power. Xeon processors with 533MHz front side bus, combined with DDR SDRAM and PCI-X technology means the DL360 can handle greater transaction workloads for web hosting, infrastructure applications, and terminal services.

ProLiant engineering leadership is evident in the remote management capabilities of Integrated Lights Out technology embedded in every DL360 providing OS-independent remote console and remote power on/off. In addition, to meet the demanding fault tolerance requirements of corporate data centers, the DL360 G3 now offers optional hot plug redundant power.

Problems and Requirements
  • A high performance server design to drive higher user workloads per U
  • A space-saving dense form factor
  • Availability features that limit costly network downtime
  • Server deployment and data center management tools to conserve IT resources
  • Remote manageability to support centralized or remote data center management
  • Superior cable management and rack rail solutions to accommodate dense server deployment
Solving the Customer Problem
The DL360 has balanced processor resources with high performance 266MHz, 2-way interleaved DDR SDRAM, PCI-X technology and U320 drives, bringing more performance per U for web hosting, data center utility, terminal services, and HPTC environments. Next-generation Xeon processors with 533MHz front side bus not only increase system performance, they can also handle a significantly greater workload per processor because of higher processor frequencies, faster system bus, and Hyper-Threading technology. Additionally, with up to 8GB memory capacity, the DL360 helps eliminate a common system bottleneck.

Industry-leading features included in the price of the server, such as integrated Lights Out remote management and ProLiant Essentials Pack, significantly increase the value-add of the DL360G3.

The virtual presence of Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) technology provides secure text based remote console and remote power on/off, perfect for DIYHosting's remote administrators. Optional graphical remote console and virtual media functionality further enhances the feature set.

Split services and backup
DIY Hosting keeps all services seperate. This means all services are on their own servers. This gives us cutting edge speed, and optimization. This is known as "clustering". Server clustering is a well-known, high-end solution that gives a group of servers and services unrivalled stability.

Our backup's are run at 12:01am on a daily basis, including backing up all data, and settings, in case of emergency.

In the case of the H-Sphere Control panel, an additional backup is done of the PGSQL database that is the backbone of the H-Sphere system; Nightly encrypted backups of the HSphere PGSQL database. Encrypted off-site storage of HSphere PGSQL database. Multiple copies of database backups stored.
